An SCR Drive is a low-cost drive for controlling DC motors and makes use of a power transistors called a SCR. An SCR acts as a gate to allow a controlled amount of current to flow to the motor. This current controls the voltage allowed to generate in the armature field of the motor, and a such the speed is controlled.
