AC Inverter Drives control the speed of an AC induction motor via an inverter. The inverter applies a voltage at a set frequency to the stator winding of the motor in accordance to the control voltage signals.  These drives typically require speed feedback from the motor.  These Drives are also known as Variable Frequency Drives.
